Old Tithe and Field Names
Maps indicate that the three quarries and others belonged to William
Gossip Esq. in the late C18th, who built Thorp Arch Hall with stone
obtained from his own land. This quarry is situated
immediately below a promontory rim, whereas the other two are
further down steep slopes. |
