There are three disused quarry sites in the cliffs, probably 18th or 19th century or even earlier, associated with the early development of Boston Spa.

It can be seen that the limestone is of variable quality, some horizontally bedded and strong, but some domed and weaker.

A date carved low down in the face of this quarry might be from the period when it went out of use.
